I can't do this anymore. I am tired of battling the same negative thoughts over and over. I am on a cycle of depression that leads to unhealthy coping, making me feel more shame, and then the depression hits again. My relationships with my family are suffering. I feel stuck and unsure of which way to turn. Who can I trust? Can I really change?

Hi, my name is Virginia Young. Following nearly 10 years of personal experience and research in the Tourette and Tic population as a parent and advocate, (including OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Sensory Integration, and various additional neurodivergence), I am thrilled to be able to serve the Gadsden & surrounding areas community as an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Dr. Misty Smith. Acquiring, with honors, a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University, interning at Parkaire Consultants (a specialty clinic in Marietta, GA), and completing Associate Counseling Licensure, as well as passing the National Counseling Exam have all prepared me to take the most logical next step which is to provide this distinct expertise to northeast Alabama. I believe that my personal experience with Tourette + and other neurodivergence in my own family, combined with the mentorship and supervision by Sheryl Pruitt, a renowned Tourette Syndrome expert, has set me up to be an exceptional asset to children & families. My desire is to provide clarity, direction, connection, and support through education and multiple types of therapy as well as to encourage the development of a team approach for supporting the young person and their environmental cheerleaders such as family, school personnel, doctors and therapists.

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6
My name is Jennifer Gray. I am a wife, a mother, and a believer in Jesus Christ and His power to heal. I am also a believer in the healing power of touch. Throughout scripture the importance of touch is displayed. From the healing touch of Jesus, to the biblical principle that we should greet each other with a holy kiss, God's word is filled with examples of the power of touch. This concept has been backed by science. Most are familiar with the positive impact massage therapy has to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, stimulate your lymphatic system, increase your overall mobility and flexibility, and improve your skin tone. But research has shown massage therapy also has an incredible impact on a person's mental health. Endorphins, also known as the happy hormones, are released through massage therapy. Massage has also been shown to help with anxiety, stress, depression, and sleep issues.
In 2007 I completed my coursework to become a Licensed Massage Therapist through Gadsden State Community College. I went on to receive my certification in Lymphedema Therapy from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. I spent the next four years practicing massage at RMC's Outpatient Rehab, in Anniston Alabama. After taking some time away from Massage Therapy to spend more time with my beautiful daughters, I began to feel God call me back to it in 2019.
